ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Wednesday highlighted the role of mystics and saints in spreading Islam in the subcontinent, and their teachings were based on humility, tolerance, brotherhood and peace. Speaking at a book launching ceremony, the housing minster expressed that the seminal work reflects that the Sufis were instrumental in shaping our understanding of the faith, and their contributions continue to inspire and guide us to this day. He attended the launching ceremony of the book titled ‘Kalyam Kooch-i-Ishq’ as chief guest. The book has been co-authored by Syed Ahmad Iqbal Tirmazi and Iftikhar Ahmad Hafiz Qadri and the launching ceremony was held in Pakistan Academy of Letters in Islamabad. The book is based on the biography, teachings, and discourses (Malfuzaat) of Hazrat Mian Fazulud Din Kalyami – a saint belonging to the town of Kalyam situated in Tehsil Gujar Khan. The book has been published to mark his 133rd death anniversary. Housing minister said Hazrat Mian Fazluddin Kalyami (R.A.) was disciple of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar (R.A.) and was known for his piety wisdom, and spiritual prowess. He also pointed out the relevance of Sufi teachings of affection and brotherhood in today’s time of despair. Mr Pirzada called for more such initiatives to introduce mystics to the current generations and promote peace, harmony, and brotherhood. Moreover, the minster stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Sufi literature, considering it a key to foster understandings among diverse communities. He congratulated the authors for making an excellent contribution to the Sufi literature by writing on spiritual life of Hazrat Mian Fazluddin Kalyami (R.A.).
