Sikh pilgrim from Sindh shot dead ‘by robbers’ near Nankana Sahib

TOBA TEK SINGH: A Sikh pilgrim belonging to Larkana, Sindh, was allegedly killed during a robbery near Chak 572, Bhagaur, on Mananwala-Nankana Sahib Road, on Wednesday night. Complainant Akshat Kumar of Osta Muhammad, Jaffarabad, Balochistan, informed Warburton police that he along with his brother-in-law Rajesh Kumar and another man, Doulat Ram, was on way to Nankana Sahib to visit Gurdwara Janam Asthan, by a car driven by Ihsanullah, a resident of Sheikhupura. He said when they reached near Chak 572, three gunmen on a motorcycle intercepted them and snatched Rs450,000 cash from them and Rs10,000 from the driver. Meanwhile, he said, two accomplices of the gunmen also arrived there on a bike and the criminals opened fire on their car. A bullet hit Rajesh Kumar who was sitting in the back seat of the car after leaving him critically injured. He said the gunmen fled the scene when they saw a police van approaching. He said they rushed Rajesh Kumar to Nankana Sahib District Headquarters Hospital where he succumbed to his injury. On Akshat Kumar’s complaint an FIR was registered under sections 302, 395 and 397 of PPC.
