Calligrapher Rashid Seyal passes away

MULTAN: Celebrated calligrapher Rashid Seyal who worked in more than 4,000 national and international mosques passed away on Thursday evening at the Parvez Elahi Institute of Cardiology. He was 52. Family sources said he was suffering from heart and lung diseases. Born in 1972 in Faridabad, Multan, Seyal did masters in calligraphy arts from Dabistan Farogh-e-Khatati, Multan. He served Imroz, Nawa-i-Waqt, Aftab and Qaumi Awaz as a calligrapher from 1986 to 1998. He also taught calligraphy at the College of Fine Arts (BZU). Rashid Seyal published six books on calligraphy and participated in several national and international exhibitions. His funeral prayers will be held at the GPO Ground, Dera Adda, at 3pm on Friday (today).
