KARACHI: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Wednesday announced to carry out a “scrutiny of all disputed cases” through a committee over recent concerns regarding the controversial results of the first year pre-medical and pre-engineering groups. The assurance was given by BIEK chairman Amir Hussain Qadri to a delegation of Jamaat-i-Islam (JI) during a meeting. A statement issued by the JI said that the party delegation had raised concerns that a large number of students in Karachi failed in the intermediate first year science group results, with approximately 67 per cent of them failing in one or more subjects. However, the BIEK chairman assured the delegation that their concerns would be addressed and that all disputed cases would undergo a “complete scrutiny.” He also promised that the affected students, who approached the BIEK with the necessary documents, would have their results thoroughly reviewed by the board’s committee, the statement added.
