Students get training in freelancing, digital marketing

LOWER DIR: A two-day training session on ‘Amazon Business Models’ concluded here on Friday. District youth affairs department in collaboration with the department of computer sciences, Government Postgraduate College, Timergara, organised the event. The participants were provided with invaluable information on freelancing and digital marketing and the dynamic world of e-commerce. They were imparted knowledge on how to be introduced to Amazon, how to start selling on the platform, different business models of Amazon and sales plans. Lower Dir additional deputy commissioner Bashir Khan, who was the chief guest, said that Amazon and e-commerce sessions would be organised in every tehsil to help promote capacity building in digital business among students. He said students should be diligent in their studies and actively participate in such seminars so that their information could be increased and they could compete with the outside world. Mr Khan emphasised that these skills were very important for enhancing their employability and prospects for a successful future in the increasingly competitive job market. College principal Dr Saeedullah Jan said the initiative was commendable as it would provide new business opportunities and ideas to students. Over 210 students participated in the event. District youth officer Malik Shahzad Tariq presented certificates of appreciation to the participants and organisers. Shields were also given out to guests and other service providers. SECOND SHIFT OPD: District development advisory committee chairman MPA Ubaidur Rehman along with assistant commissioner Zeeshan Najib on Friday inaugurated second shift children out-patient department at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Samarbagh. Hospital medical superintendent Dr Adil Khan was also present. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rehman said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was working on various measures to improve service delivery at government hospitals. He said the required medical and paramedical staff had been provided to the Samarbagh hospital. The lawmaker said installation of biometric system had improved the staff presence. He said patients would now get free medical care and laboratory tests at the second shift children OPD.
