RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak on Thursday directed Deputy Commissioners of Rawalpindi division to notify the inspection committee for monitoring the ongoing development work. Deputy Director Development, Assistant Director Local Government should be made members of this committee headed by the Assistant Commissioner General and given the task to go and monitor the ongoing work on development schemes, especially roads. The committee will have to ensure speed and quality of work. Speaking in a meeting to review the uplift schemes, the commissioner said that deputy commissioners should assess the identified schemes and ensure that the government money is spent where it is needed and beneficial. “Our primary objective in starting every scheme is to provide relief to the people through it,” he said. Highway department Superintendent Engineer Rao Tahir and other officials concerned attended the meeting while DCs of Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock and Murree participated through video link in the review meeting of development schemes held at Commissioner Office Rawalpindi. While giving a briefing on this occasion, it was informed that there are nine ongoing schemes worth Rs4,152 million in Attock district with a progress of 52pc. Similarly, there are six schemes in the rehabilitation programme and two are completed and work on four are in progress. Ten schemes are in the road restoration programme and three are in the Chief Minister’s sustainable development goal programme, which are in progress. While assessing the schemes, he said that deputy commissioner should also keep in mind that no schemes are being duplicated. Also the schemes should be taken up according to their utility. Such schemes which are very necessary and their completion will bring relief to the people should be taken forward on priority basis.
