KARACHI: A sessions court has sentenced an underage accused to one-year in prison for raping a seven-year-old boy. The court handed over the underage convict to a probation officer. The additional district and sessions judge (central) found the teenager guilty of committing an offence under Section 337-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) within the jurisdiction of the Yousuf Plaza police station in 2022. The judge also mentioned that during the final arguments, the defence counsel pleaded that the complainant, the father of the survivor, had entered into a compromise agreement with the accused and forgave him in a jirga. The court also directed the convict to visit the office of the probation officer once a month, adding that at the end of the sentence period, the officer should submit a report in court regarding the behaviour and the conduct of the convict. According to the state prosecutor, the complainant stated to the police that when he returned from work, his son was crying, upon inquiry the seven-year-old survivor informed him that he was playing outside the flat of the convict who brought him into his home and subjected him to a sexual assault. The prosecution presented six witnesses during the trial to support the case against the convict
