RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has said that Pakistan does not envisage any dislocation in the United States policy towards this country as there is continuity of policies in institutionalised democracies. … We believe that the present (Ford) administration will continue to pursue the same policy towards Pakistan as the previous administration, he told the leading American television network … (N.B.C) — in a recent interview. … Replying to a question about lifting of US arms embargo Mr Bhutto said it is in the interest of peace in this region and also in the global interests of the [US] to provide arms to Pakistan. There is no justification … whatsoever for singling out Pakistan for this embargo, he added. Replying to a question on the Kashmir dispute … Mr Bhutto underlined the need for a “just and equitable solution”. — News agencies [Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Washington,] the World Bank warned today [Sept 22] that without a major, worldwide effort, 800 million people in the developing countries can expect almost no improvement in their lives during the rest of the 1970s. For hundreds of millions more, any improvement will, at best, be meagre without such action.
