Three booked for cutting buffalo’s legs in Lodhran district

BAHAWALPUR: Three persons were booked for injuring legs of buffalo and making it crippled at Chah Jhoke Roshan near village Tibbi Waddan in the limits of Saddar Kahror Pucca Police Station in Lodhran district. According to police spokesperson Khan Bahadur, they registered a case on complaint of buffalo owner Muhammad Yar against Muhammad Ijaz, Khizer Hayat and Muhammad Fayyaz from whom two were arrested. In his complaint, Yar Muhammad alleged that his Neeli Ravi buffalo broke away from his cattle pen and entered the maize fields of his three neighbours. They attacked the animal with axes and iron rods, leaving it crippled. SHO Imran Gujjar arrested two of the suspects while Muhammad Fayyaz escaped. Muhammad Yar has sought assistance of veterinary doctors for the crippled buffalo’s treatment and shifting it to the veterinary hospital. : Vehari police arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) with help of Interpol at Lahore airport as he landed in the country on Tuesday. According to district police spokesperson Adnan Tariq, Model Town Police Station, Vehari had booked Afaq Ali Tahir in a robbery case in 2016 but he managed to flee to Dubai. The court declared him PO and issued red notices for him. After his arrest in Dubai by Interpol, Tahir was extradited to Pakistan. Vehari police took him into custody and shifted him to Vehari Police Station lock-up. : The district coordination committee in a meeting was informed that 219 uplift projects costing Rs43bn were under-execution in the district. The meeting, chaired by MPA Shoaib Owaisi, was participated in by MNAs Mian Muhammad Usman Owaisi and Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, MPAs Khalid Mahmood Jajja, Malik Khalid Mahmood, Syed Aamir Ali Shah, Deputy Commissioner Dr Farhan Farooq, DPO Asad Sarfraz and other official members. The meeting was told that by June 2024, funds to the tune of Rs17bn were utilised. It was also stated that more funds of Rs5.6bn for the current year’s uplift schemes were released by the government out of which Rs1.2bn had been spent on the execution of schemes so far. : Two persons, including a minor boy, died in separate incidents in the district. According to Rescue 1122, three-year-old Ali Shan was killed when an animal pen collapsed on him at Basti Bohana near Khanqah Sharif. In the second incident, Muhammad Nawaz (30), a labourer, was electrocuted while working at an under-construction building at Jhok Jhnawar near Yazman.
