PCB continues to reshuffle domestic fixtures

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) continues to disrupt its domestic cricket calendar with frequent schedule changes. In the latest instance, the PCB has decided to suspend the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, delaying its final and the last match of the triangular stage, which was set to be played between Lahore Whites and Sialkot. This disruption comes as the PCB prepares to launch the five-team T20 Champions Cup on December 7. The match between Lahore Whites and Peshawar, originally scheduled to begin in Abbottabad on December 2, will now be followed by Lahore Whites’ clash with Sialkot in the triangular stage, which is set to commence on December 27. The venue for this fixture has yet to be confirmed. The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final is now slated to take place from January 2 next year. This is not the first instance of the PCB reshuffling domestic competitions. Earlier, the national U-19 regional tournament was postponed after only the first day of the inaugural round was played across the country. Additionally, the start of the national junior women’s cricket tournament was cancelled, and the PCB recently suspended the national women’s championship in Karachi after a fire broke out at the hotel hosting the participating teams. Rather than relocating the teams, the board opted to halt the tournament altogether.
