Boy shoots stepmother dead

BAHAWALPUR: A boy allegedly shot dead his stepmother over a family dispute at Basti Makadam near village Kotla Dibar in Lodhran district. According to Rescue 1122 Bahawalpur, when the rescuers reached the crime scene, Samina (35), wife of Aslam, had already expired after being shot by her killer, identified as Afzal, had escaped. The Kahrore Pucca police officials reached the crime scene and collected evidence. They sent the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kahrore Pucca for a post-mortem. According to police, a murder case against Afzal would be registered on the complaint of the deceased’s husband. DROWNS: A 14-year-old girl drowned in Abu Dhabi Canal near Uch Sharif, about 70km from here. According to rescuers, the deceased, Salma, was washing clothes when she accidentally slipped and fell into the canal, stated to be 45 feet wide and 15 feet deep. The rescuers of scene searched for the body for over four hours but in vain. The search operation had to be postponed until Monday morning due to poor visibility. SUSPENSION: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) dismissed from service a revenue commercial assistant at Chichawatni, identified as Anas Jamil, for his continuous absence from duty and suspended two officials, namely Sahiwal lineman Iftikhar Ahmed and Shahid Ahmed, on charge of negligence.
