Dr Mohammed Khaleel, an orthopaedic spine surgeon from the United States who worked in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, said the situation in the north of the Palestinian territory is “incredibly dire”. The amount of devastation inflicted on northern Gaza is now “hard to describe”, he told in an interview from Florida, in the US. “In the south, we witnessed a genocide. In the north, it’s a full-on Holocaust. So many buildings are destroyed. There is an incredible amount of death and destruction that is even beyond what we saw in the south back in April,” he said.
