QUETTA: Nawab Mohammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai, central secretary of the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and chairman of the Olasi Jirga, has expressed serious concern over deteriorating security and governance issues in the provincial capital. Speaking at a outside the provincial assembly building against the abduction of an 11-year-old student, the PkMAP leader criticised the state’s priorities, accusing it of neglecting citizens’ safety in favor of its own security. He revealed that out of 600 cameras installed in the provincial capital under the Safe City project, only 200 are working, while the rest are either broken or have been removed. He condemned the state’s focus on safeguarding its own institutions over its citizens, saying that the nation is burdened under heavy IMF loans, with newborns inheriting debts exceeding Rs300,000.
