PA likely to legislate on agri income tax

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly will meet here on Monday (today) to legislate on agriculture income tax being repeatedly demanded by the International Monetary Fund as a condition for its loan facility for the federal government. The 18thsession of the house has been convened by Governor Saleem Haider and it will meet with Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan in the chair at 2pm. The agenda for the sitting issued by the assembly secretariat says that besides considering and passing the Punjab Agricultural Income Tax (Amendment) Bill 2024, the house will also take up written queries of the lawmakers about the industries, commerce and investment department, and call attention notices. Annual report of the Election Commission of Pakistan for the year 2023 and audit reports on the accounts of tehsil municipal administrations of Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Chiniot and Rahim Yar Khan for 2016-17, union administrations of Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Sahiwal, Vehari, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan districts will also be laid before the house.
