LOWER DIR: Two houses were looted in Surano village in the jurisdiction of Samarbagh police station here on Saturday night. The police said that the robbers held the inmates at gunpoint and took away 3.5 tola gold, Rs50,000 cash and other valuables from the two houses. They said that the inmates were threatened with dire consequences by the robbers before leaving the houses. The police said that the incident spread fear and panic among the residents of the neighourhood. Later, the residents of Surano village led by the Samarbagh tehsil council chairman Saeed Ahmad Bacha, social activist Dr Sarbiland Khan and president Samarbagh action committee Haji Hayatullah reached the police station and recorded their protest. They asked the police to immediately arrest the robbers. The people also threatened to stage a protest if the robbers were not arrested by Nov 14.
