HYDERABAD: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced installation of a solar system at the Cadet College Petaro and two-month salaries as a bonus for its employees. Speaking at the 62nd Parents’ Day celebrations at the college on Wednesday, he said the institution had a rich legacy of producing leaders in every field. He said the 1.5MW solar power system would be installed in the college and two gross salaries as a bonus would be given to the college staff. Present on the occasion were MNA Malik Asad Sikandar, MPAs Sikandar Shoro and Malik Sikandar, parents and members of civil society. College Principal Commodore Faisal Iqbal Qazi SI (M) delivered an address of welcome, highlighting the institution’s legacy of producing exceptional alumni, including notable figures such as President Asif Ali Zardari. The CM said he was attending the celebrations on behalf of President Asif Zardari, an alumnus of the college. He praised the cadet college as a beacon of excellence in education, commending its innovative educational practices, high standards of discipline and remarkable achievements. He also extolled institution’s holistic approach to character building which ensured cadets excellence academically, in sports and extracurricular activities. The CM encouraged cadets to strive for more excellence and serve Pakistan with integrity and resilience. “You are the future of Pakistan,” he said and added that “May Allah guide and bless you all in your endeavours,” he said. The CM presented awards and medals, recognising distinguished cadets for their achievements. Liaquat House received the runner-up trophy awarded by Latif House; the badge of honour was awarded to Cadet Abu Al Hassan; best sportsman trophy went to Wasif Shakil; ‘Stick of Honour’ was given to Shah Mujtaba Shariq and Bronze Medal awarded to ex-cadet captain Moaz-zam Mumtaz Jokhyo, who won the championship trophy.
