Balochistan PML-N leaders demand intra-party polls

QUETTA: An angry group of PML-N leaders, led by senior vice president of the party’s Balochistan chapter Suleiman Khilji and Jahangir Khan Khorti, on Friday demanded the holding of intra-party elections in the province, which have not been conducted for the last six years. Speaking at a press conference along with other party leaders, they warned of staging a hunger strike and sit-in in front of the Governor House if the ongoing issues faced by party workers are not resolved. The PML-N leaders pointed out that the last intra-party elections in Balochistan were held six years ago, and with the current provincial president, Jaffar Mandokhail, now serving as the governor of Balochistan, it is essential to conduct fresh elections. They urged Mr Mandokhail to respect the democratic rights of party workers and address their concerns, adding that despite being part of the coalition government, PML-N’s political activities in Balochistan had effectively stalled, particularly in the Zhob region.
