LAKKI MARWAT: Eight suspects were arrested by the local police during a search and strike operation on Wednesday. The policemen raided the hideouts of anti-social elements and narcotics sellers in the limits of the city police station and captured eight persons with arms, ammunition and narcotics, an official claimed. He said that the arrested men included Abdul Samad, Amir Khan, Shamroz, Farzand Ali, Aftab, Wajahat Zaman, Ismail and Mohammad Shafiq. “Police seized two AK 47 assault rifles, a shotgun, three pistols, ammunition and 1960grams of hashish from the arrested accused and registered separate cases against them under relevant sections of law,” he added. Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Rahim Hussain asked the subordinate police officials to take advantage of the modern technology in taking action against the criminals . He issued these directions during a meeting held under his chair at the police lines. He said that the use of modern technology would help police officials to ensure arrest of wanted accused and improve investigations. He directed the SHOs to launch actions against drug traffickers, proclaimed offenders and lawbreakers on a daily basis and share their progress with his office. “Under the reward and punishment criteria, the policemen with good performance will be rewarded while those showing negligence and dereliction will face stern departmental action,” the DPO added.
