THIS is with reference to the letter ‘Nadra woes’ (Nov 17) regarding the issues faced during the processing of an application for the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (Nicop) of a person aged below 18 years. The application was incomplete and the same was communicated to the applicant by the case officer, requesting the required documents. A Pakistani address on any Nicop appli-cation has to be verified through prescribed documentary evidence, especially if there is a change in address. Furthermore, Urdu data is required only for the applicant’s name and the father’s name, as these details are printed on the card. As per the relevant policy of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), fingerprints and signatures are mandatory for individuals aged 14 years or older as part of the application process. For Nicop applications, a verifier form, validated by any valid ID card holder, is also required. Nadra has a well-established as well as functional complaint redressal mech-anism, and all applicants are encouraged to approach the Nadra’s Central Complaint Management System either through its official website or by using the dedicated 24-hour helpline (+92-51-111-786-100).
