HYDERABAD: Sindh United Party’s president, Syed Zain Shah, has said that ‘Sindh bedari march’, part of campaign launched by Darya Sindh Bachayo Tehreek, will start from Hyderabad on Jan 11 to record protest against construction of six canals over Indus River. He told journalists after chairing the party’s central executive committee meeting on Thursday in Jamshoro that the march would Mirpurkhas where a public meeting would be held. The march would begin at 12 noon from Hatri bypass, Hyderabad, he said. He said the campaign was in protest against July 8 decision taken in presidential palace regarding the six canals on Indus. The march would resume on Jan 12 to reach Umerkot, he said. He said that leaders of the parties, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, PML-Functional, Jamaat-i-Islami, Qaumi Awami Tehreek, Awami Jamhoori Party and JUI-F which were part of the Tehreek would attend the public meeting. Shah said that the meeting discussed overall political situation in the country and condemned killings in Parachinar, which took place because of government’s incompetence. He said that murders in the name of religion were in fact reflective of failed foreign and internal policies. The government had lost its writ, he said. He said that Pakistan Peoples Party’s parliamentarians in Sindh and National assemblies were privy to the decisions regarding the canals. These ministers and rulers were also responsible for One-Unit, Kalabagh Dam and introduction of dual local government system in Sindh, he said. He said that movement against the canals in fact condemned Sindh government’s hypocrisy and accused the provincial government of issuing false statements about the canals whereas in reality these canals would render Sindh barren. He said that G.M. Syed was a great leader of the subcontinent and his birth anniversary would be celebrated in a befitting manner in Sann on Jan 17.
