Businessman found dead in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: A businessman was found dead in Dhakhi area in the jurisdiction of the Mandani police station here on Sunday, prompting the traders to stage a protest against growing incidents of targeted killing, kidnapping and lawlessness. Shaukat Ali, a brother of the deceased, Mohammad Nawaz, of Sheikhanu Bari Band area, reported to the police that his brother was doing business in Dhakhi market. He said his brother went missing hours before his body was found. “We tried to contact him when he went missing after the Asr prayers, but his mobile phone was switched off,” he added. The complainant told the police that they had no enmity with anyone. The police filed a case and started an investigation. Meanwhile, the traders took to the streets against the murder. The protesting traders demanded the immediate arrest of the killers and protection to the business community. They said that traders were suffering from insecurity. They demanded of the Charsadda police to immediately arrest the killers of Mohammad Nawaz. A Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) quiz competition organised by Islami Jamiat Talaba, a student wing of Jamaat-i-Islami, was held at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex here on Sunday. The first position was won by Peshawar Millennium School, Charsadda. More than 3,000 students from various schools across the district participated in the competition. The students answered different questions based on the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), his battles, moral teachings, and aspects of Da’wah and Tableegh. Ayesha Manahesh, a student of Peshawar Millennium School, Charsadda, won the first position and received a cash prize of Rs30,000. Charsadda assistant commissioner Mr Riaz, Islami Jamiat Talaba provincial nazim Sahibzada Waseem Haider, district nazim Ashfaq Ahmed, Jamaat district emir Shah Hussain Advocate, district president of Al-Khidmat Foundation Saddam Hussain and principals of various schools were also present. The guests distributed prizes among the position holders. On this occasion, IJT provincial nazim and others said that the aim of organising quiz competitions on the topic of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) was to create awareness among students about the teachings and noble life of the Holy Prophet. They said such competitions encouraged the students to understand the foundations of Islam, follow the morals and character of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and promote Islamic values in the society.
