Two meter readers sacked, as many penalised by Lesco

LAHORE: Imposing a major penalty, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) administration on Friday removed its two officials from service on account of corruption. The admin also imposed penalty on another two by stopping their promotion for three years. According to the chief executive officer of the company, those removed from service included meter readers Shakil Ahmad and Muhammad Khalil, posted at Sara-i-Mughal subdivision. The promotion of meter readers Rana Imran and Muhammad Khalid posted at Sherawala Gate subdivision has also been stopped for three years. Their three-year increment has been withheld. “The action has been taken against the aforementioned officials after they failed to submit a reply to the final show-cause notices,” CEO Shahid Haidar said in a press release. “Since the corrupt officials are not only causing financial loss but also damaging reputation of the company, we will take strict action against them,” he warned. Meanwhile, Lesco admin has ordered installing biometric machines in its circles, divisions, revenue offices and sub-divisions at the earliest to ensure attendance of all officers and employees. “The installation of biometric system at Lesco headquarters has yielded significant results as it improved the attendance of all officers and employees, while the problem of undue overtime and off-days have also been resolved. After this successful experiment, it has been decided to install biometric machines in all other offices of Lesco.” The meeting was attended by Chief Finance Officer Bushra Imran, Director (Customer Services) Sarwar Mughal, DG (Admin) Noman Ghafoor, DG (Implementation) Rai Muhammad Asghar, Chief Engineer (T&G) Zafar Iqbal, Chief Engineer (PIU) Ejaz Bhatti, Chief Engineer (PMU) Shoaib Asim, Chief Engineer (P&D) Imran Mahmood, Director (S&I) Asghar Sukhera and Director Commercial Nadeem Tahir, Director (Anti-Theft) Muhammad Shahid Malik and Director (Recovery) Muhammad Muzammil.
