SAHIWAL: A woman and her daughter were burned with petrol by her stepbrothers over a dispute regarding the construction of a wall in their house courtyard in village 88/6-R, Sahiwal, on Friday. Both the woman and her daughter were shifted to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital in a critical condition. Farid Town Police registered a case under sections 336, 427 and 324 of the PPC and the Anti-Terrorism Act against Rashid Kambhoo and Aslam Kambhoo, on a complaint by the victim’s brother, Muhammad Aslam. Reports said Suriya and her daughter, Amina, had a dispute with their stepbrothers over the construction of a wall in the house courtyard. The stepbrothers wanted to privatise their common house premises by constructing a wall, which Suriya opposed. Stepbrothers exchanged words with Suriya and later pushed her and her daughter into a room, poured petrol on them, and set it alight before locking the room from the outside. Hearing the mother’s cries, neighbors unlocked the room and rescued the unconscious women and shifted them to hospital. ROBBERY: Up to 13 armed robbers raided the farmhouse of a landlord in Bagh Aqay Shah in the jurisdiction of the Noor Shah vicinity, on Thursday night and took away 26 animals three mobile phones, 25 hens and three solar panels. Reports indicate that the armed men had a monetary dispute with the landlord and his wife. The robbers tied up couple with ropes and escaped with the animals. Local villagers told Dawn that two local groups have an age-old dispute. Noor Shah Police registered a case under sections 397, 395, 375-A and 511 of the PPC on a complaint by landlord’s elder brother. The FIR alleges that four robbers attempted to rape the wife of the landlord. The police are looking into the matter.
