80-kanal dumping site opens in Okara

LAHORE: The Okara district administration has established a first of its kind modern dumping site at an area of 80 kanals to dump 228 tonnes of solid waste everyday in line with the chief minister’s Suthra Punjab campaign. MNA Riazul Haq and MPA Mian Muhammad Munir along with Sahiwal division Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal Syed and Okara Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Usman Javed inaugurated the landfill site. Briefing the project, DC Javed said the dumping site would be enough for the solid waste management in the district for the next 10 years that would also provide people with a pollution-free environment. He said the dumping site had been built across five acres at 6/4L and it would be expanded over an additional five acres of land to meet the chief minister’s vision of cleanliness in districts across Punjab. Mr Javed said the process of public service would continue with the cooperation of the local leadership and the district administration. MNA Haq said the Punjab government was taking practical steps to provide the best municipal services to the people of Okara. MPA Munir said a series of practical measures were going on under the clean Punjab campaign. He said it was the responsibility of the people to keep the city clean and healthy. Sahiwal Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal Syed also spoke.
