HYDERABAD: The locomotive and one bogie of the Shalimar Express train derailed near Allah Dino Sand village in Matiari district on Thursday. The Lahore-bound train had left Karachi railway station in the morning. Its engine and one bogie jumped off the tracks causing panic among passengers, many of whom jumped out of several bogies. The affected bogie was third from the locomotive side. The incident took place at around noon after the train left Hyderabad railway station at 10:45am. The ‘Up’ track was partially affected due to the derailment. Railway officials and a rescue team rushed to the spot and started work to put the coach back on tracks. It took them five hours to separate the affected bogie from the locomotive and clear the tracks.
