BAHAWALPUR: Daniwal police claimed that two arrested suspects were seriously injured allegedly in the firing by their own accomplices during an encounter on Wednesday. As per the police, the suspects, Parvaiz and Ali Shan, who are allegedly involved in dozens of cases of robberies, and snatching vehicles and motorcycles at gunpoint, were on physical remand with Daniwal police. They were being brought back after recovery of some looted items from Luddan area, when their four accomplices attacked the police team in a bid to free the suspects. However, during the crossfire between police and criminals, both suspects were injured seriously and were shifted to Burewala THQ Hospital. A police PRO said that the injured suspects,Parvaiz and Ali Shan, were involved in 24 and 35 criminal cases, respectively. A case against their four fleeing accomplices has been registered by the police. Vehari additional district and sessions judge handed down life term, along with Rs50,000 fine, to a man in a rape case registered by Tibba Sultanpur police two years ago. According to the prosecution, the convict, Kashif Ali, had in 2022 raped a woman and was booked by Tibba Sultanpur police on the victim’s complaint under section 376 of the PPC. The court also awarded one-year imprisonment to a man in a narcotics case. The convict, Aslam, was arrested and challaned by Fateh Shah police in Vehari district in FIR No 418/21. At least seven passengers, including a woman, suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Vehari Road near the forest in Hasilpur tehsil on Wednesday morning. According to Rescue 1122, the collision took place because of poor visibility caused by the early morning fog. The injured including Rana Majid, Salman, Imran, Akmal and Inam were shifted to Hasilpur THQ Hospital.
