MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have beefed up security for Chinese nationals working on a power grid station in the Tanawal area here. “We have enhanced police deployment and sealed off the entire area where all Chinese engineers and workers associated with the grid station,” district police officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told a Chinese team in Sawan Mera here on Friday. The DPO, along with DSP Pulrah, SHO Lassan Nawab, and personnel from the Elite Force, visited the grid station site and reviewed security arrangements. “I am here on the orders of Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Gandapur to ensure foolproof security for Chinese engineers and workers,” he said. Mr Gandapur said the contributions of Chinese nationals to Pakistan’s development were invaluable and were admired by the Pakistani nation. “Besides this mega grid station, Chinese companies have also been executing three hydropower projects to help meet our energy shortfall,” he said. The DPO also said Chinese companies had undertaken three hydropower projects in the district. He noted that security had been enhanced not only at the grid station site but also for the three hydropower projects being executed by Chinese companies in the district . The Chinese team also briefed the DPO and his security team about the power grid station, which will be linked to the Dasu hydropower project to supply electricity to the national grid. Mr Gandapur and security officials later visited the residential colony established for Chinese nationals and reviewed security arrangements.
