TELEPHONE BILL: I have opted to receive a hard copy of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) bill, and pay Rs100 because I have no online banking account, nor do I want to have one due to increasing online banking frauds. For other utility services, I regularly receive paper bills without any extra charges. Despite the charge, PTCL remains whimsical in its approach to dealing with customers. The bill is either not delivered or delivered after the due date. This month, the bill has not been received yet, and I will have to pay the penalty for late payment. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) should take notice of the matter. Truly, when we wish to evade responsibility, we find excuses to do so. When we start thinking that things are not within our control, we unconsciously embark on the steep slippery slope of mechanism that they are determined by external circumstances. But when we believe otherwise, we exercise our free will by taking both responsibility and action. We start developing an internal locus of control: the philosophical-cum-psychological perspective that things are within our control. It is like a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Hospital lacks many facilities, including essential equipment required for conducting even simple blood tests. It continuously suffers from shortage of doctors, limited financial resources, power outages, water shortages, and inadequate emergency services. Due to unavailability of such basic facilities, the hospital is unable to provide essential healthcare services to the people of Gwadar and its surrounding areas. Unfortunately, people remain frustrated and are compelled to seek treatment elsewhere. The provincial government must take immediate action to address these issues, and provide due facilities at the hospital.
