FDE-run institutions to remain open on Saturdays

ISLAMABAD: To overcome education loss of three-day because of recent protest of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and subsequent road blockage by the government, the Ministry of Education on Friday notified to end holiday of Saturday for next two months in public educational institutions. In next two months, all Federal Directorate of Education (FDE)-run schools and colleges will remain open on Saturday as well till next two months. “To compensate the academic loss due to frequent closure of Educational Institutions it is decided by the competent authority that Saturdays will be observed as working day in all Educational Institutions working under the ambit of FDE with effect from 30-11-2024 to 01-02-2025. All educational institutions shall observe working days with already notified officials timings.” An official said that decision of opening schools on Saturdays was made by federal secretary education. This notification has nothing to do with private schools and they are free to keep their schools closed on Saturday or otherwise.
