TOBA TEK SINGH: Madina Town police of Faisalabad arrested on Thursday a couple for torturing a teenage girl, shaving her head as a punishment for refusing to work as a maid. According to the first information report (FIR), investigating officer Muhammad Atif Shahzad said Alisha Bibi (15), a resident of Chak 409-GB, Tandlianwala, told the police that she was brought to Faisalabad by a couple for the job from her village. They handed her over to a trader Hamza Khalid of locality Ghalib City to do the job of a maid but she refused to work at his home. At this, Hamza and his wife, Sonia Bibi, overpowered her and tortured her while they also shaved her head. Police spokesperson said Alisha had been shifted to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital for a medical examination. BOY DIES: A student lost his life during a race among the students of different schools. Samar Abbas, a 10th class student of the Ravian Public School, Sindhillianwali, was taking part in the competition being held at the Abdullah Public School, Chak 725-GB, when he fell down and lost consciousness. He was shifted to the Pirmahal Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where doctors declared him dead. SACKED: Faisalabad Regional Police Officer Dr Muhammad Abid Khan terminated from service four police officers for misusing their powers. An official said the RPO had received complaints against the policeman deployed in different police stations of Faisalabad district. He ordered an inquiry in which the charges levelled against the officers proved correct. At this, he terminated them from service. The officers included three sub-inspectors Mohsin Ghani, Hammad Yousaf and Shahzad Ahmad and ASI Ihsanulhaq. MARRIAGE: The marriage of an orphan girl was arranged by the Faisalabad Police Tuhaffaz Markaz (PTM). Inspector Gulnaz Najam told the reporters that the girl had contacted CPO Kamran Adil. She told the CPO that her poor parents had died and there was no one in her family to find a match for her. At this, Inspector Gulnaz was deputed by the CPO to find a boy for the girl. The wedding function and rukhsati was held at the Tuhaffaz Markaz.
