Punjab IG visits injured police, Rangers personnel

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar on Friday visited a hospital in the garrison city to inquire after the injured police officers and Rangers personnel. The law enforcement personnel were injured during a violent protest of PTI on Nov 24. A police spokesman said that IG Punjab met the injured police officials and Rangers personnel who were under treatment in the hospital. IG Punjab visited SP Mohammad Farooq Bhatta, Constables Samiullah, Wajid Ali and Rangers personnel, said the spokesperson for the Punjab police. IG Punjab prayed for the speedy recovery of the police officers and the personnel and Rangers. IG Punjab instructed the hospital administration to provide the best treatment to the injured police and Rangers officers and personnel, said the spokesman. Police and Rangers officers and personnel were seriously injured during the violent protest by the criminal elements, said the spokesman. RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa, CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani, SSP Operations, Rangers officers were also accompanied the Punjab IG . Police and Rangers personnel were injured by miscreants’ firing and violence while performing their duties; he said adding that the officers performed their duties with bravery. Punjab Police is proud of the martyrs and veterans who sacrificed their lives for the survival and security of the country, the IG said. During a press briefing in which only the official media was invited on Thursday, the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Babar Sarfraz Alpa revealed that a total of 262 police officials had been injured during the PTI protests during the last three months. While sharing the details, the RPO said that the violent protesters attacked the police with firearms which resulted in the injuries to 170 police officials of the the Rawalpindi region. Of the 170 injured, two police personnel sustained bullet injuries; they said adding that 25 of the injured officers and officials were in critical condition.
