Nine on begging mission offloaded

TOBA TEK SINGH: Nine passengers, two men and seven women, were offloaded from a Saudi Arabia-bound flight at the Multan airport on Friday by FIA. A press release said the nine were going for begging in the guise of Umra pilgrims. They were identified as Khairat Ali, Pervez, Kaneez Bibi, Faiza Mai, Kalshoom Mai, Asia Bibi, Ulfat Bibi, Naila and Shazia. They belonged to Sargodha, Layyah, Bhakkar and Multan. They had no advance booking in hotels in Makkah and Madina while they also failed to give details of sources of their income for Umra expenses. During initial investigation, it was revealed that they had already been to holy places but they had no idea how to perform Umra. They were handed over to FIA’s Anti-human trafficking cell for further leagal action. CORRUPTION: Anti-Corruption Establishment circle officer Mansoor Khan and assistant director investigation Rao Faisal Ali arrested on Friday a revenue patwari of Mustafabad area of Mailsi tehsil of Vehari for receiving Rs 2.5 million bribe from complainant Hafiz Muhammad Aslam of Chah Ghaziwala. The complainant said he had bought 12 acres of farmland in patwari’s jurisdiction but he did not transfer the land in his name.
