KARACHI: A Pakistan Navy (PN) constable was shot at and wounded by robbers at Native Jetty Bridge late on Thursday night, police said on Friday. Docks SHO Nafeesur Rehman told that 27-year-old Asim Parvez, who was in a civilian dress, was intercepted by armed pillion riders at the bridge. The suspects demanded his cell phone but he threw the phone in the malkhana under the bridge and tried to escape. The muggers opened fire on him, as a result of which he suffered a bullet wound and was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment. The Surjani police on Friday claimed to have arrested three suspects, two of them teenagers, in wounded condition after an ‘encounter’ in the Kaneez Fatima area. The police identified them as Meekail Nasir, 16, Farhan Fazal, 18, and Farooq Haroon, 20. Three pistols and a snatched motorcycle were recovered from their custody. They were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. In another incident, two suspects were shot at and wounded during an ‘encounter’ in Mominabad on Friday. The police said the encounter took place at Irani Camp where after an exchange of firing, two suspects, Rohan Jabbar and Kabil Shah, were arrested in wounded condition.
