Gangster killed in encounter in RYK

LAHORE: A member of Tanveer Indhar Gang was killed in an alleged encounter at Kacha Machka, Rahim Yar Khan, on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Mir Hassan alias Bega Chandia, was allegedly involved in killing Sub-Inspector Ramzan and 12 other police personnel, says a handout. He had a criminal record and was involved in multiple cases, including firing on police, kidnap for ransom, murder and robbery. Machka police had set up a checkpoint at Sutrki Bachao Bund on a tip-off about a major robbery by the Tanveer Indhar gang. Upon spotting the police, the criminals opened fire. In the ensuing retaliatory action by the police, a robber was killed while the others managed to escape. The deceased was later identified as Mir Hasasn. A Kalashnikov along with hundreds of bullets was recovered from his possession. All police personnel remained unharmed in the attack although the vehicle sustained minor damage. The operation was led by the Bhong DSP.
