KARACHI: Defending champion Ali Hamza suffered a major upset in the pre-quarterfinals of the 32nd Sindh Cup Snooker Tournament, losing 3-4 [29-44, 27-55, 56-18, 67-12, 34-48, 56-54, 56-47] to A. Sattar here at the OTC Snooker Arena on Friday. A. Sattar staged a remarkable comeback to win, taking the deciding frame 56-47. Ali had earlier taken a 2-0 lead, but Sattar fought back to level the match at 3-3. In other pre-quarterfinal matches, Khizar Aziz edged out Usman Khan 4-3, while Ian Mark John thrashed Nadir Shah 4-0. Umair Alam, Mani Memon, Umair Khan, Zulfiqar A. Qadir and Ali Raza also advanced to the quarter-finals. The last-eight matches are scheduled to take place tomorrow, with Sattar facing Khizar, Ian taking on Umair Alam, Mani Memon facing Umair Khan and Zulfiqar battling Ali Raza.
