LOWER DIR: So far 209 seminaries have been registered in the district and work is in progress to register the rest of religious schools. In this connection, a meeting was held in Timergere here on Monday with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Arif Khan in the chair. The meeting was also attended by district registration and promotion officer Murad Ali, assistant director of National Commissioner for Human Development (NCHD) Ishtiaq Ahmed and assistant director of NCHD Mohammad Asad Khan. The meeting was briefed regarding registration of seminaries in the district. The deputy commissioner directed officials concerned to compile data of all registered and unregistered seminaries soon. He said that unregistered seminaries would be registered with Directorate of Religious Education, Islamabad. He said that assistant director of local government and all other stakeholders should meet with administrators of seminaries and give them registration forms so that they could complete the process of registration timely. The additional assistant commissioner revenue, Tariq Khan, on Monday visited a cash distribution point of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in Timergara to resolve complaints of people. He inquired about additional charges from BISP beneficiaries. The distribution point was sealed when women told him that they were charged extra. He told journalists that the matter would be referred to higher authorities for further necessary action. The BISP beneficiaries were directed not to pay any extra money to any retailer. They were told to immediately inform administration if anyone demanded money from them. Several BISP beneficiaries had complained about lack of facilities at the Timergara cash distribution point established for them by a private bank. They said that veiled women from different parts of the district didn’t have a washroom, a waiting room and drinking water at the centres in Timergara and Rabat. They said that BISP paid them three months’ stipend through specific campsites. They said that earlier they received their payment through mobile phone outlets easily. Some women said that due to issues with fingerprints, they had to wait for months for receiving payment. A BISP staffer told Dawn that seven centres were set up for about 52,000 beneficiaries in the district.
