SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Two shops selling women’s clothing were looted and torched in Karikot Bazaar of Wana tehsil here on Monday night. Local residents and police said that the perpetrators first looted the shops and later set fire to them. They escaped the area. The shops were owned by Ejaz Wazir and Najeeb Wazir. Lower South Waziristan district police officer Asif Bahader confirmed the incident, but said that the cause of the fire was unknown. He said that an investigation was underway. Meanwhile, armed men launched a brazen attack on a joint checkpost of Frontier Corps and police in Daza Ghundai area of Wana tehsil on Sunday night. However, the assault was repelled by the FC and police personnel, forcing the attackers to escape. The incident has sparked widespread concern among local residents, who are increasingly worried about the deteriorating security situation in Lower South Waziristan. The region has witnessed a string of unpleasant incidents in recent times, leaving citizens on edge. The attack on the FC post is the latest in a series of security breaches in the area. The residents have urged the authorities to take immediate steps for their safety.
