LAHORE: The Lahore district administration on Friday confi scated hundreds of banners promoting the University of Engineering and Technology (UET)’s Spring 2025 admissions campaign, sparking a controversy and criticism from the university’s officials. The incident occurred outside a printing press in Royal Park, where UET staff was loading the banners onto a rickshaw. According to details, municipal committee employees, led by District Zonal Offi cer Riaz Gujjar of Data Ganj Bakhsh Town, intercepted and seized the materials. The banners were subsequently taken to the town’s storehouse, and printing press owner Usman was detained. UET Registrar Muhammad Asif lodged a formal complaint with the deputy commissioner, labeling the seizure as an unlawful disruption of a public university’s outreach campaign. “The banners were being transported from the printing press when they were confi scated without justifi cation,” stated a complaint available with Dawn. The university administration has demanded the immediate return of the confi scated banners and the release of the press owner. The district administration was not available for a response to the allegations.
