KARACHI: Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan will miss the upcoming Test series against West Indies due to injury in hand. The 21-year-old wicketkeeper was struck on the hand by the ball, requiring stitches. As a result, he will not be available for the two-Test series against the West Indies. Haseebullah, who has played one ODI and three T20Is for Pakistan, was the second wicketkeeper in the 15-member squad alongside Mohammad Rizwan during the South Africa tour. The left-handed batter is a promising young wicketkeeper. He made his T20I debut on January 21, 2024, in Christchurch, playing as an opening batsman under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi. On November 24, 2024, in Blantyre, he played his first international ODI under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan. He was part of Pakistan’s white-ball squad during tours of Australia and Zimbabwe, but for the South Africa tour, he was limited to the Test squad only. The West Indies cricket team arrived in Pakistan on Monday to participate in a two-match Test series, marking their return to the country for a Test series after 18 years. The visitors will play a three-day practice match, beginning on January 10, against the Pakistan Shaheens as part of their preparations. Pakistan and the West Indies have played 54 Test matches against each other, with Pakistan leading the head-to-head record with 21 wins. Whereas, The Windies have won 18 Tests and 15 games ended in draws. The last Test series between the two sides took place in 2021 in the Caribbean, ending in a 1-1 draw.
