BAHAWALPUR: A major train mishap was averted near Lodhran through the coordinated efforts of the district administration and emergency services. For over three hours, officials worked to remove a damaged container blocking the railway track at the Jalalpur Peerwala crossing, restoring safe passage for trains. The district administration led the operation alongside Rescue 1122, police and other departments. The overturned container, carrying 30,000 liters of the inflammable liquid Ethyl Hexanol, had skidded off the road and blocked the track after colliding with a safety wall. Emergency teams used heavy machinery to clear the obstruction while preventing any leakage or explosion risk. The injured driver was provided first aid on-site. Multan’s Seetal Mari police arrested two people accused of attempting to rape a 12-year-old boy in Raja Ram. According to the boy’s father, his son’s screams alerted locals, causing the suspects to flee. Police registered a case and arrested both suspects, ensuring further legal action. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) foiled an escape attempt by Rehmatullah of Dera Ghazi Khan, whose name is on the Exit Control List. Rehmatullah was attempting to travel to Dubai via a private airline but was arrested during passenger checks at Multan Airport.
