SAHIWAL: The body of Fasil Mukhtar, missing grade IV employee at the Pakpattan District Headquarters Hospital, was found in a hospital washroom on Monday afternoon. Mukhtar Ahmed informed Farid Nagar police that Fasil left for work on Nov 16 but did not return. The family searched extensively and learned he was last seen with three people near Baba Farid Park. His phone was switched off the same night. The police sealed the washroom where the body was found and secured the crime scene. Initial findings suggest the body had been there for two days. The exact cause of death will be determined after postmortem. District Police Officer Tariq Walayt formed a three-member investigation team and Deputy Commissioner Sadia Mahar also formed a five-member committee to investigate the matter. A gunman was killed and a police official sustained injuries during an encounter near village 20/KB in Arifwala on Sunday. The police received a complaint about a robbery and rushed to the scene, where the gunmen opened fire while hiding in maize fields. In the crossfire, ASI Murshid Shah was shot in the shoulder and rushed to Arifwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for treatment. The body of the gunman, identified as Nisar Daha, was recovered alongside a pistol, rifle and ammunition. He was wanted in over 20 cases across various police stations.
