KARACHI: The constitutional benches of the Sindh High Court will hear 50 cases in five categories on a daily basis. Acting on the request of Justice Mohammad Karim Khan Agha, the head of the constitutional benches, Sindh High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui on Friday issued directive to all officers working on judicial side to ensure that 50 cases — 10 cases each in five categories of tax, customs, services, labour and Sindh Building Control Authority — must be fixed before each constitutional bench at the principal seat in Karachi. According to a circular issued by SHC Registrar Suhail Muhammad Laghari, since the tax/customs petitions are not filed at SHC’s Sukkur bench and circuit courts at Hyderabad, Larkana and Mirpurkhas, the officials concerned should fix cases of other categories before the respective constitutional benches in other parts of the province. Meanwhile, a new roster has been issued for constitutional benches of the SHC from Dec 2 to Dec 24, setting up two benches in Karachi. The first division bench will comprise of Justice K. K. Agha and Justice Abdul Mobeen Lakho and the second one will consist of Justice Sana Akram Minhas and Justice Arbab Ali Hakro. However, the constitutional benches in Sukkur, comprising Justice Mohammad Saleem Jessar and Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sangi, and Hyderabad, comprising Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, will remain the same till Dec 24.
