Youth kills mother for ‘honour’

SARGODHA: A 22-year-old youth electrocuted his mother after feeding her toxic pills in the name of honour and buried her in the courtyard of their house in the Midh Ranjha area. Mumtaz Bibi was allegedly poisoned and electrocuted by her son Ali Hassan. Police recovered the body, shifted it to the hospital for postmortem and arrested the suspect. A case was registered against him. District Police Officer Asjad Malhi said that the case would be prosecuted in the court of law to provide justice to the deceased. A woman broke into a house in Block 3, tricked a resident’s sister, and escaped with a large amount of gold jewelry and cash. The incident occurred at the home of Mubashar. Police are investigating the robbery. : A Kot Momin police station head constable has been suspended from job for facilitating the escape of a suspect detained for illegal possession of weapons. Assistant Sub-Inspector Nasir Mahmood arrested Ali Asghar of Khawajaabad, recovered a 30-bore pistol from him and confined him in the lockup. However, Head Constable Ansar Shahzad freed the suspect from custody, claiming he was “dear to him”. The district police officer has taken notice, suspended Ansar, and sought a detailed report. A case was registered against him under section 155 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
