KARACHI: The diamond jubilee celebration of the Catholics Archdiocese of Karachi was held at the St Patrick’s Cathedral under the leadership of Archbishop Benny Mario Travas here on Sunday. In the past, the Catholic Archdiocese of Karachi was a part of the Archdiocese of Bombay. But with the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Karachi was separated from the Archdiocese of Bombay and made a separate unit in 1948. For the grand diamond jubilee celebration, a special logo was designed. It includes the provincial culture of Karachi. The jubilee mass was presided by Msgr. Germano Penemote, representative of the Vatican, apostolic nuncio along with all the Catholic bishops of Pakistan.
