BAJAUR: An extensive training session was conducted here the other day for the police officials to enhance their knowledge and skills in investigating and tackling criminal cases. The session aimed to strengthen the police officials’ capabilities and ensure justice for victims, according to a statement. Deputy commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, district police officer Waqas Rafique, additional deputy commissioner (general) Ali Raza, additional deputy commissioner (finance and planning) Hamza Zahoor, SP investigation and district prosecutor participated in the workshop, arranged by the district administration and police department. DSPs, SHOs, Moharrars and assistant commissioners, Khar and Nawagai subdivisions, were also in attendance. It was the first ever specialised session for the police officials to deal with the criminal cases effectively. DC Ali and DPO Rafique told the participants on how to register cases against the accused and the kinds of criminal cases and their relevant laws. They said the session was meant to strengthen the law enforcers’ capabilities and provide speedy justice to the victims as many police officials dealing with the criminal cases were not aware about the nature of the cases as per the law. The district prosecutor and other legal experts told the police officials about various civil and criminal cases such as murder, attempted murder, rape, kidnapping, fraud, theft, robbery and domestic violence and their punishments as per the Pakistan Penal Code. The participants were also informed about the rights of prisoners, right of self-defence and procedure of exhumation. The participants were also informed about the responsibility of the police and their role in ensuring safety and security of the citizens and how to investigate cases effectively and efficiently.
