KARACHI: The city administration on Monday informed the Sindh High Court that the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) could not be given permission to hold a public meeting in view of security situation. In his latest report submitted to the SHC, the deputy commissioner-East stated that a meeting of district intelligence committee was convened on Oct 4 at his office to consider the request of the PTI for a no-objection certificate to hold a public gathering at Bagh-i-Jinnah, Mazar-i-Quaid. He stated that after detailed deliberations, the committee was of the view that the PTI request could not be considered at this stage and “till neutralisation of law and order situation and favourable reports from agencies concerned”. A two-judge bench adjourned the hearing on the contempt application till Nov 14. The PTI had moved the SHC seeking contempt proceedings against the DC and SSP of district East for not complying with the court’s May 13 order.
