1 killed, 3 injured in Bajaur cylinder blasts

BAJAUR: One person was killed and three others were injured in separate gas cylinder explosions in Khar tehsil on Monday. Residents and Rescue 1122 officials said the first incident occurred near the Khar Civil Colony in the wee hours of Monday when a gas cylinder exploded in a house, causing it to collapse, leaving the owner, Fazal Kareem, dead on the spot. Residents of adjacent houses said that the 62-year-old was a retired government employee. They said he was heating water for morning prayer in his room when the gas cylinder exploded with a bang, destroying most parts of the house. The residents said that the explosion also damaged home appliances. Soon after the incident, residents of the nearby homes and rescue workers reached the area and recovered the body from the debris. According to Rescue 1122, the second cylinder blast occurred at a shop in the main vegetable market of Khar. They said that three people, identified as Sulaiman Khan, Ibrahim Khan and Abdullah, were injured in the incident. Condition of all the injured, who were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, was said to be out of danger.
