LAHORE: In a surprising development, the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has made changes to its elected office-bearers, who had been re-elected for a third consecutive term during the polls held on December 15, 2024. This move suggests that the PBF has opted to align with the Pakistan Sports Board’s regulations, which, under the national sports policy, prohibit the president, secretary, and treasurer of a federation from contesting elections for a third term. As part of the restructuring, Khalid Mahmood, who was elected president of the PBF, has been appointed as the honourary life president. Meanwhile, retired Lt. Col Mohammad Nasir Ijaz Tung, who served as the secretary general, has been elevated to the position of president. A press release issued by the PBF on Tuesday explained the changes, stating that they were made following the completion of two terms by both president Khalid and secretary general Nasir. Additionally, the PBF members congratulated Khalid on his unanimous appointment as the Chair of the Constitution Commission of Asia Boxing. They also extended their congratulations to Nasir for his appointment as a Member of the Olympic Commission in Asia Boxing.
