Woman’s severed head found in Orangi drain in Karachi

KARACHI: The severed head of a young woman was found in an open drain in Orangi Town on Saturday, police said. SSP-West Tariq Illahi Mastoi said the woman’s head was found floating in the drain water in Qasba Colony within the jurisdiction of the Pirabad police station. The police rushed to the spot after receiving information and shifted the severed head to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and possible identification. The police’s Crime Scene Unit was also called to collect evidence from the spot, the SSP said, adding that further probe about the incident was underway while the process has also been initiated to identify the victim. Area SHO Imtiaz Mirjat said that doctors told the police that the woman’s head was severed with the help of a sharp-edged weapon. He said it appeared that the woman was killed on Saturday and the head was thrown in the nullah. The victim appeared to be in her mid-20s. He said the police were also searching other parts of the body.
