Science, computer labs in Rawalpindi district schools to be upgraded

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi District Education Authority and a local NGO Basic Reform and Development Foundation (BERD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to upgrade science laboratories, libraries and computer laboratories of 221 schools in the district. The signing ceremony was held at commissioner office. District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Amanullah Khan and foreign donors from Hong Kong were present on the occasion. Talking to Dawn, District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Amanullah Khan said that the MoU was signed with a local NGO to upgrade the science laboratories, libraries and computer laboratories of 221 schools in the district. He said that training to the teachers would also be provided. He said that we would provide the list of the schools which had less facilities in the district and the NGO will upgrade the laboratories in the schools. He said that the working had been started to finalise the list. He said that the basic aim of the MoU is to improve the condition of government-run schools and standard of education. He said that teachers names would be finalised who will perform duties in these laboratories so they will get the training to handle the new equipment and impart education to the students with modern techniques.
